How It Works
Weekend holding rules determine if you can carry trades through Saturday and Sunday. Weekend gaps (price differences between Friday close and Monday open) can cause significant unexpected losses, which is why many firms prohibit it.
Firms that ban weekend holding automatically close all positions before market close on Friday. Swing traders and longer-term traders should prioritize firms that allow weekend holding.
