PickMyTrade and Prop Firm Rules: We Checked Its 6 Supported Firms Against Their Own Policies
A trade copier like PickMyTrade connects to your prop firm account and mirrors trades into it automatically. Its pricing page names the prop firms it works with. What it does not tell you, because it is not the copier's job to tell you, is whether the destination firm's own rules actually permit copy trading at all. Connecting a copier to a funded account whose rules prohibit copy trading is a real way to lose the account, regardless of whether the copier itself functions correctly.
We hold two datasets nobody else combines: verified specs on the tools traders use, and verified trading rules for prop firms, both sourced from each vendor's own pages. This piece checks one against the other for the only trade copier we have fully onboarded.
Of the 6 prop firms PickMyTrade names as supported, one, FundedNext, states in its own help center that copy trading is a restricted trading strategy. Two others, Topstep and E8 Markets, explicitly allow it. The remaining three have no stated copy-trading policy in our data at all.
What "supported" means on a copier's pricing page
PickMyTrade's tool page lists its verified specs: copying is one-way (master to destination account), it works across platforms rather than only within one, and it can scale position size per account with a risk multiplier, all confirmed on pickmytrade.io/faq/prop-firm-automation and pickmytrade.io/broker-faq. It is cloud-hosted with no VPS or desktop install required, confirmed on pickmytrade.io/trade-copier.
Its pricing page names 6 prop firms as supported: Apex Trader Funding, Topstep, Take Profit Trader, FundedNext, E8 Markets and Tradeify. Nowhere on that page, or anywhere else on the site, does PickMyTrade publish a claim that a firm's own rules permit copy trading. "Supported" describes a technical integration, a connection PickMyTrade can make. It is not a compliance statement, and our own spec sheet for the tool marks the prop_firm_approved field as unverified rather than assume it means one, because PickMyTrade never states it.
Checking the 6 firms against their own rules
We hold a trading-rules record for every publishable firm in our database, each with its own source page rather than inferred from a copier's claim. Here is what each of PickMyTrade's 6 named firms states, in its own words, about copy trading.
| Firm | Listed by PickMyTrade as supported | Firm's own copy-trading policy | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apex Trader Funding | Yes | Not stated in our data | apextraderfunding.com |
| Topstep | Yes | Allowed | help.topstep.com |
| Take Profit Trader | Yes | Not stated in our data | takeprofittrader.com |
| FundedNext | Yes | Prohibited | help.fundednext.com |
| E8 Markets | Yes | Allowed | help.e8markets.com |
| Tradeify | Yes | Not stated in our data | tradeify.co |
"Not stated in our data" is not the same as "allowed." It means we could not find an explicit copy-trading clause on that firm's own rules or FAQ pages at the time of verification. Per our data policy, an unverified field is left unverified rather than assumed either way. If you trade with Apex Trader Funding, Take Profit Trader or Tradeify and plan to use a copier, ask the firm directly before connecting one.
FundedNext's own help center lists copy trading among its restricted and prohibited trading strategies, at the URL cited above. PickMyTrade's pricing page nonetheless names FundedNext as a supported firm for its copying service. Both things can be true at once: the technical connection works, and using it may still put the account in breach of FundedNext's own rules. The two claims describe different things, and only one of them is the firm's own word on what is allowed.
Why this gap exists
A copier vendor's "supported firms" list is a list of platforms and account types it can technically connect to, most often built from which platforms the firm's accounts run on (FundedNext's own MetaTrader and DXtrade setups are common integration targets industry-wide). It is not built from that firm's rulebook, and there is no reason to expect it would be: PickMyTrade is not the firm, and its incentive is to advertise reach, not to audit every partner's terms of service on your behalf. The compliance check has to come from the firm's own rules, which is the half of this comparison a tool's marketing page cannot supply.
What to check before connecting a copier to a funded account
Three things, in order, before wiring any copier (PickMyTrade or otherwise) into a live evaluation or funded account:
- Read the firm's own prohibited-strategies or trading-rules page, not a summary of it. Search that page for "copy," "copying" or "signal."
- Confirm whether the rule applies to mirroring your own accounts only, or any external connection. Firm wording varies on this even between two firms that both say copy trading is "allowed."
- Ask the firm's support channel directly if the page is silent, as it is for 3 of PickMyTrade's 6 listed firms in our data. A vendor integration existing is not evidence the firm has cleared it.
For the two firms in the table above with a confirmed, sourced "Allowed" (Topstep and E8 Markets), a technical PickMyTrade connection and the firm's own stated policy point the same direction. For FundedNext, they do not.
Methodology
PickMyTrade's supported-firm list and the tool specs quoted above are read directly from its own pricing, FAQ and product pages, each cited by URL, as recorded in our tool_specs table with a verification date of 17 to 18 August 2026. Each firm's copy-trading policy is read from that firm's own trading-rules or help-center page, recorded in our firm_trading_rules table with its own source URL, independent of anything PickMyTrade states. Where no source page states an explicit copy-trading policy, the field is recorded as unstated rather than inferred as either "allowed" or "prohibited." No value in this piece is estimated or interpolated from a similar firm.
Disclosure
PropFirmMap is not a commercial partner of PickMyTrade, Apex Trader Funding, Topstep, Take Profit Trader, FundedNext, E8 Markets or Tradeify. None of the 7 vendors named in this piece pays us a commission, and none of the classification above is affected by partnership status: our tool and firm data is recorded identically regardless of whether we earn from a listing.
Frequently asked questions
Does PickMyTrade check whether a prop firm allows copy trading before listing it as supported?
Not as far as we can verify. Its site describes technical integration (which platforms and account types it can connect to), not each firm's compliance policy. Nothing on its pages claims otherwise.
Is copy trading the same as EA or algorithmic trading, as far as a prop firm's rules go?
No, they are typically separate, differently-worded rules, and a firm can allow one while banning the other. For a full firm-by-firm breakdown of both rules across our wider firm database, see our prop firm trading rules guide.
Which of PickMyTrade's 6 listed firms actually confirm copy trading is allowed?
Topstep and E8 Markets, both sourced from their own help-center pages cited above. FundedNext's own help center states the opposite. Apex Trader Funding, Take Profit Trader and Tradeify have no stated policy in our data.
What should I do if my prop firm's rules don't mention copy trading at all?
Treat silence as unresolved, not as permission. Contact the firm's support channel directly and get the answer in writing before connecting any copier to a live evaluation or funded account.
