Topstep is a pioneer in the prop trading evaluation space, founded in 2010 in Chicago by Michael Patak. Built on the belief that long-term trading success is driven by discipline, consistency, and sound risk management, Topstep has grown to serve a community of over 200,000 traders and has paid out more than $1.4 billion. The firm operates its own proprietary platform, TopstepX, offers live market education through TopstepTV, and launched Topstep Brokerage in 2026 for traders who want to trade their own capital. Topstep's One Rule evaluation model requires traders to simply not exceed the trailing max loss limit.
